Dr. Shantidani Minz

Dr. Shantidani Minz is a medical graduate with specialisation in community health and public health. She hails from Kurukh (Oraon) tribe in Jharkhand but has worked in different parts of India. Her work in rural Jharkhand, rural north India and rural South India has provided varied and rich learning environment giving room for new learning and sharpening skills for better health of people. She has over 30 years of teaching experience as a faculty in Christian Medical College, Vellore, teaching and guiding medical professions students and scholars and medical teachers. She has developed training for and been involved in participatory learning of grass-roots community workers to community health professional. Her interests lie with holistic health of disadvantaged and marginalised communities (ethnic, social and geographic), especially addressing Social Determinants of Health, and she has been part of developing and initiating a health program for a hill tribe community in Tamilnadu. Apart from this, she has contributed to work of different mission hospitals and NGOs for community projects and research. Her research experiences range from social determinants, Maternal and Child health, HIV/AIDS, Infectious diseases and Vaccines, policy and developing models for better health.

She has expanded her learning in Christian value-based Leadership, Christian response to contemporary issues and Organisational development through specialised courses. She has been engaged in governance of many NGOs, hospitals and educational entities. After retirement, she continues to be engaged with NGOs, hospitals and other groups involved in addressing inequality, rights and justice for all.
