Das has over 35 years of dedicated experience in the field of disabilities. In 1990, he pioneered the creation of the first annual Braille Calendar in Kannada for the visually impaired. In 1996, he achieved a historic milestone by making the Kannada Braille Bible accessible to the blind in Karnataka. Additionally, he established the first school for the blind in Bidar in 1991, marking significant progress in disability education.
From 2007 to 2010, Mr. Suryavanshi served as the State Commissioner of Disabilities, where he spearheaded pioneering programs that ranked Karnataka first in the country for disability welfare initiatives. His innovative model included the appointment of 6811 disabled individuals across every gram panchayat and taluk panchayat in Karnataka, setting a benchmark unmatched elsewhere in India.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was reappointed as the State Commissioner for Office of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities by the Government of Karnataka in August 2023.
