Kunja Veerabhadram lives with his wife and has two daughters and a son in Singavaram village of Dummegudem Manda in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana state. All his children are studying.
Kunja has hair cutting skills and wanted to become a hair stylist. He searched for a job in a saloon, in his locality, to improve his skills further and earn his livelihood. His search went in vain as no saloon agreed to employ him. So, to meet his family’s needs he began daily wage work in the agriculture fields. However his meagre earning was not sufficient for his family’s expenses which included his children’s education and taking care of his extended family members.
Around that time, EFICOR conducted a youth club meeting in his village and taught about livelihood opportunities where Kunja participated and expressed his interest to start his own saloon shop. A skill assessment and feasibility study were carried out by the EFICOR project team and Kunja was selected with the consent of all other youth members. He was supported with Rs. 10000/- to start a saloon for his livelihood. The saloon saw instant success and Kunja began earning Rs. 15000/- to 20000/- per month, which is sufficient to meet his family’s needs and to take care of his children’s education. Kunja is grateful to the EFICOR project team and all well-wishers for extending the timely support.
