Ameena*
is a 28 year old woman. Her husband married
another and left her with 2 children. The first boy is studying
in 5th standard and her daughter is studying in 3rd
standard. She is living in Salingramam in a rented house. Her
friends introduced her to the sex profession.
During
the awareness programme conducted by TCDS, she learnt about
HIV/ADS. She also attended a counselling sessions which had a
considerable impact on her.
She
left her profession and learnt how to make basket from plastic
wire during the skill training session. She then availed a loan
and started making baskets. Now she is selling the baskets and
is earning Rs 1200/- per month.
